Edward and his love for Books! (part 1)

20121102-212919.jpg

Edward has been read to since he was as young as 8 months old. His involvement in the reading sessions has changed dramatically in the past 20 months. It’s amazing how fast they grow up.

He used to just sit and our lap and enjoy the pictures.

And then he would move on to helping us turn the page.

And then he would remember the actions that we had been doing for some pages of a book and he would do them by himself when we reach the page.

He also reached the stage of tearing pages of books away! My oh my, especially the pop up books! I wonder if every child goes through this stage.

He reached a stage of learning the words of pictures on a book (around 13 months old)

The stage where he heads to the bookshelf, grabs his books and flips the pages by himself, quietly.

And then he doesn’t flip pages quietly, but “reads” to himself.

He started to have his favourite books.

And now, he has his favourite authors and book series.

Reading seems to be his favorite thing to do after jumping on a trampoline.

In the next few parts of this series, I will talk about the books Edward enjoys reading and why.
