It was morning (or dawn?). Heard Oliver making noise and noticed daddy swaddling him… mummy dozed off again.
Woke up rather fresh, with Edward stirring by my side, to the right. Daddy had gone to work. It was 7:10 A.M.
Got out of bed, rushed Edward out of the room as mummy didn’t want to take any chances of Oliver being woken up by Edward’s voice. [Oliver was sleeping in his cot bed].
Mummy took a shower while the kettle was boiling. [normally i wouldn’t get to shower till the children’s afternoon nap, but this morning i just felt i needed a shower first thing’s first!]
Edward had his morning milk, changed nappy, changed into his day clothes [have not had a bath yet].
We had our one-one-one time.
Daddy came up with packed breakfast from the dining hall. This morning it was sausages and fried rice. Daddy went back to work.
Edward poo-poo!!! and he had a shower 🙂
Oliver woke up at 8:15 A.M. Changed nappy, changed into day clothes. Fed him.
Mummy prepared scrambled egg and fried sausage (the one daddy brought up) for Edward.
Edward dived into his breakfast. Still had to help feed him. Gave him bread at first, but in the end he wanted the fried rice =)
While the boys were playing, managed to prepare Edward’s lunch.
and then it was time for Oliver’s morning nap. Let Edward play with the iPad. I went into the bedroom with Oliver. He fell asleep at 10:15 A.M.
To get Edward off the iPad, i cajoled him into going out to the corridor with me. He said ‘No!’ at first but in the end we went out. Bye Bye to the iPad! We enjoyed the breeze [we are on the 13th floor].
Oliver wakes up at 11 A.M. he had a very short nap. one cycle. Playtime again.
Lunch time for Edward. He ate quite well at 11 A.M. Oliver was on the rocking chair. He hates the rocking chair by the way. But we had no other choice, baby.
Finally the kids went to sleep at 12:30 P.M. [Edward would normally nap before 12 noon but because today Oliver woke up at 11 A.M., there was no way Edward would sleep, and so we had to wait till Oliver had to nap again – which is usually 90 minutes after he wakes up from the previous nap]
Daddy came up with chicken rice for mummy, at 12:50 P.M. He stayed for 10 minutes. [Daddy usually has lunch with colleagues and brings lunch for mummy]
Edward woke up at 1:30 P.M. Today mummy wasn’t so lucky. Both babies didn’t nap for long. [some days, Edward could nap up to 2.5 hours and Oliver could nap up to 3 hours – rare though].
When alone with Edward, mummy was SUPER sleepy. Lay down on the mattress on the floor and tried so hard to keep my eyes open to talk to Edward. Poor boy. He brought a book for me to read for him. I could barely read! Couldn’t nap too. Serious headache on the left side.
and then Oliver was awake at 2:15 P.M.
Another round of playtime!
Oliver poo-poo! [naked buttocks above is after changing]
We had a dancing session. Played some music from mummy’s iPod. Edward enjoyed seeing mummy go silly with her moves. He danced too. Mostly running about! He asked for the song “the Witch Doctor”. Oliver enjoyed looking up at mummy swinging her arms about, from the mattress on the floor. Everybody had fun. Time flew.
and it was time for Edward’s afternoon snack. Mummy thought we had 1 or 2 oranges left in the fridge. So asked Edward if he wanted an orange, he said yes. But when I was washing strawberries in the kitchen, he shouted “Don’t want! Don’t want!”. Told him we had no more oranges. He still didn’t want strawberries [which used to be his favourite fruit by the way]. Asked him “Grapes?” and he said “Grapes” with a smile =). He had his snack rather late today, at 3:50 P.M.
The bowl above was only left with 3-4 grapes and 1-2 strawberries. He could eat a lot!
Tried to make Oliver sleep at 3:20 P.M. Failed.
Daddy came back at 4:10 P.M.! [mummy’s favourite time of the day!]
Tried to help Oliver sleep again. Failed.
mummy’s headache still persisting. Decided to go out to Bishan park!
Felt better the moment we stepped out of the taxi! It was a $5 trip. [It’s hard to get around by bus or train with 2 children under 2 years old].
Oliver slept after less than 10 minutes of pushing him in the stroller.
Edward was very happy. He saw 3 Siberian Huskies at the dog park.
Guess what we had for dinner?
Unhealthy right? Edward ate A LOT.
It’s the only eatery at the park. Ironic isn’t it? The park is supposed to be a ‘healthy place’. People go to the park to be healthy. To jog. To cycle. To exercise. and what food do we have there? Fast FOOD!
The sun had gone much lower than when we arrived. The air was cooler now. We all enjoyed the breezy walk. Edward loved seeing kids on roller blades, dogs on a walk, cat, and mostly the train passing by in the distance!
We had a nice ending to the day =)
Came home, bedtime routine. Daddy helped give Edward a bath, read to him and tried to help him sleep but Edward couldn’t sleep. Daddy had to leave for his meeting. He left at 7:50 P.M.
Edward didn’t sleep till 8:15 P.M.
Oliver didn’t sleep till 8:50 P.M. [he has been having trouble falling asleep for a week or two now. he WON’T take the pacifier. he WON’T take the breast at times. I really don’t know what the matter is. Don’t want to sleep train him. We did it with Edward and it didn’t seem to succeed. He is sleeping with us now. Haha. So we don’t want to torture Oliver too. Sleep-training was one of the things mummy regretted in parenting Edward 😦 ]
Mummy did laundry. Machine wash. Tried to clear the living room. Half-way done. and here I am writing my blog!
Initially wanted to mop the house and clean one of the toilets. No mood. Will have to keep for another day. Hopefully tomorrow.
Daddy is not back yet. He will be done only around 10:30 P.M. or might even stretch till 11 P.M. Poor daddy.
He just said this afternoon [and many times before today] that he wants to spend as much time as he can with his boys as they are only young once.
Without him working so hard, mummy wouldn’t be able to enjoy this luxury of staying at home with our beautiful sons. So lucky right? YES!
At the end of the day:
– There are 2 baskets of unfolded clean laundry.
– One-machine load of laundry to be hung / put into the dryer.
– half tidied-up living room
– sleeping babies
– daddy still at work
– mummy alone at home
– but no matter what, a happy family =)
